Cheney says cowboy hat meant to ward off skin cancer

Dick Cheney says the gray Stetson cowboy hat he's been wearing lately has to do with the heart transplant he got last year. The former vice president said Friday he is taking two drugs to reduce the risk of organ rejection. The drugs leave him susceptible to skin cancer, he said, so his doctors tell him to wear lots of sunblock and to put on a wide-brimmed hat whenever he goes outside. "It's not because I suddenly decided I looked better... [read news]

Wis. governor offers a way around ObamaCare problems

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker wants to give people in his state a way around ObamaCare’s problems. Senate Republicans, in a final protest before the holiday break against what they've called a Democratic "power grab," are staging an around-the-clock speech-spree to stall some of President Obama's nominees.  The clash started overnight after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., tried to smooth the way for votes on 11 nominees.
