Hezbollah commander Hassan Lakkis buried in Baalbek

Crowds of mourners in the Lebanese town of Baalbek have turned out for the funeral of Hassan Lakkis, a commander in the Shia militant group Hezbollah. Lakkis was shot in the head at close range at about midnight on Tuesday outside his home in a town near Beirut. Hezbollah blamed Israel for his death but Israel has denied the accusation. Developing countries told 'tax tobacco to save lives'

Poorer countries should consider adopting or raising tobacco taxes to help save lives, a group of leading economists says. The call comes in a report, published in The Lancet, which says there is a "once in human history" chance to wipe out health disparities between nations. Ukraine unrest: Nato condemns crackdown on protesters

Nato foreign ministers have condemned the use of "excessive force" against pro-European protesters in Ukraine after a meeting in Brussels. The 50th anniversary Doctor Who special has set a new iPlayer record for getting the most requests in 24 hours, 1.27m - beating the Olympic opening ceremony's previous high. Roseanne Barr sends out profanity-laced tweets

Roseanne Barr fired off a round of profanity strewn tweets taking aim at Hollywood executives and Anderson Cooper. 'Memories' pass between generations

Behaviour can be affected by events in previous generations which have been passed on through a form of genetic memory, animal studies suggest.
